Membership

Becoming an RSM Member

To bring clarity and transparency to our society, to maintain democracy and to promote accountability, RSM encourages closer collaboration with members.

This collaboration, for the benefit of the organization's members and for future elections, is facilitated by reinstating the constitutional categories of active and inactive members.

The membership application can be completed and signed either electronically or on paper after printing it. Additional instructions can be found on the second page of the application; both pages must be signed before being sent.

Payment of the membership fee at the beginning of each year, no later than March 31, ensures voting membership at the General Assembly in the fall of that year.

About us

Founded for community, culture, and continuity

On September 8, 1985, the Romanian Society of Manitoba was founded, with the stated purpose of promoting the general good of those of Romanian descent, maintaining the sense of dignity, promoting friendship, love, truth and mutual respect among current members and the community and for future generations. All these principles form Article I of the RSM Constitution.

Article III of the Constitution states that this society has a social character, being founded to support the Romanian ethnic community, not having a political and/or religious character, while also being a legally incorporated non-profit society in the province of Manitoba.

Our purposes

  • Keep alive the Romanian national consciousness and existence, promoting love for Romania and loyalty to Canada.
  • Promote Romanian traditions and customs in the multicultural Canadian landscape.
  • Provide support and guidance to new immigrants.
  • Maintain, cultivate, and transmit the Romanian language to posterity.
  • Create an economic foundation through donations, annual dues, and other support to ensure the organization continues to function.
