On September 8, 1985, the Romanian Society of Manitoba was founded, with the stated purpose
of
promoting the general good of those of Romanian descent, maintaining the sense of dignity,
promoting friendship, love, truth and mutual respect among current members and the community
and
for future generations. All these principles form Article I of the RSM Constitution.
Article III of the Constitution states that this society has a social character, being
founded to
support the Romanian ethnic community, not having a political and/or religious character,
while
also being a legally incorporated non-profit society in the province of Manitoba.
Our purposes
- Keep alive the Romanian national consciousness and existence, promoting love for
Romania
and loyalty to Canada.
- Promote Romanian traditions and customs in the multicultural Canadian landscape.
- Provide support and guidance to new immigrants.
- Maintain, cultivate, and transmit the Romanian language to posterity.
- Create an economic foundation through donations, annual dues, and other support to
ensure the organization continues to function.
